1983년에 설립이 되어 25년 이상 영호남 지역에서 명성을 가지다가 2010년 부산시와 협약으로 캠퍼스를 이전하였고, 부산 시의 투자로 대학 수준의 시설을 갖출 수 있게 되었습니다. 또한 개교 당시 280명에서 1년 만에 400명으로 넘게 되었습니다.

유치원에서 고등학교까지 적합하게 맞춰진 과제와 다양한 프로그램을 제공하며, 14-19세 학생 대상으로 한 CIE 로부터 프로그램을 제공 할 수 있는 권한을 부여 받았습니다. 국제적인 기준을 갖추기 위해서 WASC(미국서부교육협회) 와 CIS(국제학교인증협회)의 인증을 모두 획득한 국내 최초의 외국인학교 입니다.

What is the PYP?

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Primary Years Programme is a curriculum framework designed for students aged 3 to 12.

The PYP transdisciplinary framework focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both at school and beyond. Informed by research into how students learn, how educators teach, and the principles and practice of effective assessment, the programme places a powerful emphasis on inquiry-based learning. What the PYP offers students By choosing to implement the PYP, schools will develop students’ academic, social and emotional wellbeing, focusing on international-mindedness and strong personal values. The PYP nurtures independent learning skills, encouraging every student to take responsibility for their learning. The programme incorporates local and global issues into the curriculum, asking students to look at six related, transdisciplinary themes and to consider the links between them. Why offer the PYP? The PYP delivers excellent results for students aged 3 to 12. Secondary School The Middle School – Grades 6-8 The Middle School staff strive to develop not only knowledgeable and capable students, but also happy, thoughtful and successful young people, who love to learn and care about the world they live in. We care about the complete development of our students by not only providing a highly challenging academic education through the International Baccalaureate – Middle Years Programme (MYP) but also ensuring that the students are able to achieve their full potential academically and socially through the provision of a close-knit, supportive and friendly environment. The Middle School at ISB consists of Grades 6, 7 and 8 students (11-14 year olds).

Underpinning all middle school education is the acknowledgement that this a period of great change, not only in an academic sense but also as a period of great physical maturation. At ISB we aim to create a supportive environment where students can thrive and expand their academic and personal interests. Students are not only taught essential academic and social skills but also how to manage their studies and time with greater independence. Emphasis is placed upon organization and management skills to best prepare them for High School and ultimately adult life. They will be challenged in the classroom by a rigorous academic programme and provided with the chance to participate in wide-ranging extracurricular activities. As teachers we strive to make our teaching as student-centred and engaging as possible. The small class sizes enable us to be flexible with our approach and maintain our students’ interest. For this reason, the Middle School Programme(MYP) is challenging and interesting to students and uses a variety of teaching approaches to cater for all learning styles and abilities. Learning situations are varied to not only make learning interesting and fun but to equip children with the skills necessary to work in various ways, such as in small groups as well as independently. Timetabling and teacher allocation is organized in a way to help children smoothly make the adjustment from Elementary to Middle school. There are specialist teachers for English, Individuals and Societies, Art, Mathematics, Science, Design Technology, PE, Spanish, Korean and Music.

The High School – Grades 9-12 As with middle school students, high school students are also moving through a very challenging period in their lives. To support students at ISB we provide a variety of mechanisms that challenge students to achieve their best, none the least being the academic programme. As a small school, ISB takes the time to look after and develop the individual student while providing them with the necessary personal, social and academic skills to carry them along their path of life-long learning. Students in grades 9-10 continue with the MYP until the conclusion of grade 10. After successfully completing the MYP, students can then opt to undertake one of two options. Firstly, the academically rigorous IB Diploma programme is available to students. The IB Diploma is accepted by most major universities around the world and it demands not only considerable academic aptitude, but also requires students to carry out a CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) component, complete the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) requirements and produce an Extended Essay on a subject of the student’s choice. The second option is to undertake the ISB Diploma which can incorporate a combination of IB Diploma subjects, ISB courses, Virtual High School (VHS) online learning, including the option of tackling Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Those students wishing to pursue post secondary education can use any of the two options when applying for University/College placements.

Not all of their school life will be work though as students will be involved in a range of extra-curricular activities and events. There are many after school electives to choose from and a wide range of musical options to take including choir, orchestra, and individual instrument lessons. The sporting programme is after school and includes sports being offered in Volleyball, Basketball and Soccer – for both boys and girls.
