Potato Buns

SUMMARY

What is a good burger without bread! We found that it is impossible to find potato buns in the UK so we decided to make them ourselves. I know you think that potato sounds weird to have in bread but these buns are super light and fluffy and you’ll never want a burger with anything else.

RECIPE

Mix on medium or knead for 5 minutes. It will be very sticky. That’s okay. Don’t be tempted to mess with it.

Transfer to lightly greased bowl. Cover tightly with cling film and place in a warm spot. Mine took an hour to double in size.

Transfer to lightly greased counter top and gently press the air out fo the dough. Divide into eight balls. If you’re weighing they will be about 100g / 3.75oz each.

Set balls on tray lined with parchment paper approx 3inches apart.

Give a light press down on each ball. You’re not trying to flatten them, just give them a little press. Cover with cling film and allow to rest again in a warm place. They will nearly double again and this will take 45-60 minutes.

Preheat oven when they are about halfway there so they are good to go.

Lightly brush tops with melted butter.

Bake at 350, middle rack for 25 minutes.

Cool on wire rack.
